Lobo Prep, named after Cesar Chavez High School’s wolf mascot, launched in the spring of 2015 with the mission of providing no-cost college admissions test preparation to students at Cesar Chavez High School. Lobo Prep has then mentored four cohorts of students with favorable results.

Lobo SAT Prep is a two semester program held in the fall and spring semesters of the students’ junior year. Students will learn a structured curriculum from mentors, complete two diagnostic tests, and demonstrate their abilities in the December and April SAT examinations. Mentors will also guide students in preparing for their college admissions process by drafting college essays, building resumes, and more.

Lobo PSAT Prep is a four week program held in the month of June, intended for rising juniors to prepare for the PSAT and to get ahead in preparing for the SAT.

Lobo College Prep is fall semester program held in the students’ senior year. Students will complete college and scholarship applications, as well as learn valuable life skills teaching them how to succeed in college.

Lobo Prep mentors are members of the University of Houston Bonner Leaders Program. Bonner Leaders aim to improve our surrounding community by combating issues such as food insecurity, health disparities, and, in the case of Lobo Prep, income inequality in education.
Lobo Prep meets three times a week in the library of Cesar Chavez High School. If you’re interested, please contact us or feel free to stop by!
